Five Things Lyle Has Done

1

Transportation

I have addressed challenging intersections, including:

  • Implemented Hwy 22 Traffic Safety Corridor West of Rickreall

  • Hwy 99 & Clow Corner Under Construction

  • Hwy 22 & 51 Currently in Design

  • Hwy 22 & Kings Valley Hwy/Perrydale Road Realignment Design Phase

  • Hwy 18/Hwy 22 & Fort Hill Rd Currently in Design

  • Hwy 99 & Stapleton Rd

2

Public Safety

I have been deeply involved in Passing our Public Safety Levy in 2019 and 2023. Passing this levy helps protect our quality of life here in Polk County. I have also been very involved working with our local Police Chiefs, Judges, District Attorney and Sheriff keeping our communities safe and making sure the criminals are held accountable.

3

Broadband

2019 Less than 50% of rural Polk County had access to any or adequate broadband

2024 Today over 96% of rural Polk County has access to broadband through Wireless or Fiber Based Networks.

4

Economic Growth

Working to eliminate the bottlenecks within our roadways to get our crops to the packing sheds. Or our supplies to our industries and finished goods to the consumers. Also creating safe commutes for our constituents to get to work and back home safely. The goal is not how fast I can make it but to make it there and home safely.

5

Behavioral Health

As our homeless population grows the need to provide Mental Health and Substance Abuse rises also. We have been working hard collaborating with Community Corrections, Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse Counselors and the Sheriff's Department coordinating outreach to meet the need.

Experience Matters

Lyle for Polk County Commissioner 2024

"For the last five years, I have been focused on Public Safety, Transportation, Broadband, and Public Works. I have collaborated with local and state leaders to ensure Polk County stays focused on what matters the most to its residents and citizens.I created a partnership with ODOT to get our highway projects moving forward for completion. Projects under design and moving forward such as OR 22 & OR 51 interchange, Highway 22/ Kings Valley/Perrydale realignment is in the design phase with funding in place, and Highway 99/Bethel Road interchange starting design phase with full funding in place. I am excited with the completion of the northbound turn lane at 99W & Orrs Corner, as well as the start of construction of Hwy 99W & Clow Corner roundabout with completion set in September 2024.These projects will ensure safer commutes for both work and play, and will enhance our economic footprint in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Our Public Works team is one of the finest in the state. The investment we have made in almost 500 miles of road, (250 paved and 250 gravel), and dozens of bridges in our county have allowed us to keep them in top shape and maintaining them is critical moving forward. Design efforts continue with the Hwy 18/Hwy 22 interchange project by Spirit Mountain Casino.

The homeless issue is one of the toughest issues that we face in society today. Let me begin by saying, homelessness exists. Polk County is focused on preventative homeless measures, keeping families in their home before they become homeless. It is not going away anytime soon, and we need to address it from all angles. We cannot just ignore it or throw money at it aimlessly.

One of the contributing factors is Measure 110 which has failed to meet any of the goals associated with it. We have to look at the root cause of the issue. Decriminalization and usage of drugs, property crimes increasing, overdose rates that have doubled, and a diminished quality of life for our citizens is apparent. We need to bring back secured residential treatment facilities, as well as allow our law enforcement and criminal justice system to adequately do their job that we have entrusted them to do. Treatment is necessary and I will continue to make this a focus over the next four years.

Lyle for Polk County Commissioner 2024

As your county commissioner, I am involved in multiple roles (chair, vice-chair, board member, liaison) with organizations that include local, regional, state, and national positions: Public Transportation Advisory Board, Council of Governments Legislative Committee, Mediation Committee, Bureau of Tax Appeals, Transit Board, and Safety Coordinating Council. We have created partnerships with government, churches, non-profits, and businesses that allow us to address the needs of our citizens. By being involved in these organizations it allows me to keep a pulse of what is going on in our county, how our county government is being proactive to your needs, and keeps me humble as I see the good work that each of you provide in serving our community.

I am excited to announce that I will be seeking an additional term as your commissioner, and will continue to place your needs as my top priorities in the coming season. As you may remember, Oregon has a special tax credit you can take advantage of before the end of the year. Most people can contribute $50 ($100 if filing jointly)* to my campaign, and you will get that money back on your taxes next year.

Whether it is $50, $500, or $1,000 contributed, everything helps keep moving us forward. You have been a faithful supporter over the years and I am grateful for your support.

Highlights of my time serving you:

  • During the pandemic, 50% of Polk County did not have internet access available in their homes, and now 96% of Polk County residents have broadband coverage available.

  • In 2019 there was only one transportation project moving forward, and others had come to a standstill. We now have one under construction (Hwy 99W) two interchange projects in the design phase, and two intersections in the design phase with funding in place.

  • Supporting our public safety levy, keeping the Sheriff and his deputies fully funded and staffed. We continue to maintain 24/7 coverage in our county. Thank you everyone for your continued support in keeping our community safe."
